Beat generationLesson plan

Objectives: – What we will attempt to teach the students is what the beat generation was and who it involved as well as the lives of the poets to which belonged to that generation.- We will also attempt to teach the students how to write beat poetry, what literary devices are used.

- By the end of our lesson the students should be able to talk about what the beat generation was and how to write beat poetry

Materials: -laptop: will be used to show presentation and when the time comes will be used to display LBP used to for an incredibly fun and active quiz.

-speakers: will be used so that students can hear sounds from LBP and characters from the presentation

-Projector: will be used to show everything visually.

-Playstation 3( Zack Golding will be bringing this): will be used to play LBP this will be connected to the projector so that LBP can be displayed.

Methodology: -The power point presentation will begin. Darren will start off by talking about Allen Ginsberg’s life, he will then proceed to discuss thoughts on Allen’s poem “The Lion for Real” as well as show his analysis.

- Next Zack will continue the presentation by talking about Gary Snyder’s life and his poetic works. He will then proceed to discuss Gary’s poem “RipRap” as well give his analysis.

-Jessica will then finish the presentation with her talk of T.S. Elliot’s life and accomplishments. She will then proceed to discuss Elliot’s poem “The Hollow Man”.

-The group will then teach the basics on beat poetry and how to write it

-Zack will then setup LBP so that students can participate in an active quiz.

Evaluation: – The quiz and also allowing the students to try their hand at beat poetry should tell how us how our lesson went.

Motivation: – LBP is a fun, cute, and funky video game that allows you to create anything. With this creative power Zack has created and extremely enjoyable quiz that hopefully students will enjoy. Presentation will be visually interesting.
